Thanking the people of West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry for giving a resounding mandate to the BJP in the Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the people of West Bengal have rejected the politics of violence. He announced that the new state Cabinet would clear the Ayushman Bharat scheme in its first meeting and that strict action would be taken against infiltrators.

Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, the Prime Minister said, “I want to assure every citizen of Bengal that the BJP will work relentlessly for a better future for the state.”

“Now, in Bengal, women will be safe, youth will get employment and migration will stop. In the first Cabinet meeting, the Ayushman Yojana will be cleared, and strict action will be taken against infiltrators,” PM Modi said.

He further stated that these Assembly elections in West Bengal were special for another reason.

“Earlier, during elections in Bengal, there were reports of violence, fear, and deaths of innocent people. However, this time the situation was different. Peaceful voting took place in Bengal. For the first time, no one lost his or her life during voting. In this festival of democracy, the voice of the people echoed,” he said.

“For the first time, democracy won, not fear!” the Prime Minister asserted.

Lauding the BJP’s victory in the Assam Assembly polls, he said the people of Assam have trusted the BJP-led NDA for the third consecutive time.

“It’s a hat-trick! It is a major feat in Assam’s history. In the tea garden regions too, the BJP received unprecedented support,” he said.

Hailing the BJP’s win in Puducherry, the Prime Minister said, “In 2021, we put forward the vision of ‘BEST Puducherry.’ The people trusted this vision and blessed us. Over the last five years, our NDA government has worked with full commitment to realise it, and today the people have once again reposed their faith in us.”

“I want to assure the youth and fishermen of Puducherry that we will continue working for your bright future. The prosperity of Puducherry is our resolve,” he added.

PM Modi also noted that 93 per cent voter turnout in West Bengal was historic.

“Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala have also recorded new voting benchmarks. Women’s participation, in particular, has been higher,” he said.

The Prime Minister remarked that winning and losing are a natural part of democracy.

“However, the people of these states have shown the world why our country is the mother of democracy. Democracy is not just a system; it is our culture. Today, not only has democracy prevailed, but our Constitution and democratic institutions have also emerged stronger,” he added.
